What can silence do if it truly belongs to you?

 

The day starts slowly.  The birds wake up. The wind whistles through the trees. The sun warms up the northern meadows. 

No neighbors. 

A garden. A library, pencils, piano, harpischord, loom, yarn. Space to create, without being interrupted.  

 

Sometimes one single week is enough to hear your thoughts. 

 

Artists, musicians, writers, translators, and other discoverers are warmly welcome!

 

The residence is offered by the non profit association "Purvītis Kurzemē" (Purvītis in Kurland). Purvītis, Mister Vilhelms Purvītis, if only he had been here, would have found the landscapes around the 19th century's house worth painting all year round. This is what award-winning artist  Ritums Ivanovs recognized during his first visit. So the association was named in honor of Purvītis and continues to share his sense for the beauty of nature and art.

 

"Purvītis Kurzemē" is a member of worldwide network of arts residencies ResArtis.
